Internationally known actor, businessman, and Governor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger has one of his prized possessions on display at the Motts Military Museum — an M47 tank. Originally, M47s were built for the Korean War in the early 1950s. While no longer used by the U.S. military, the M47 is still in service today in several countries including Greece, Italy, Spain, Pakistan, and Portugal.

As a member of the Austrian Army in the 1960s, Schwarzenegger was a tank driver and trained in this M47. Years later, he acquired the tank from the Austrian military. As a veteran who believes in preserving military history, Schwarzenegger feels that Columbus, Ohio is the perfect city and the Motts Military Museum is the ideal facility to preserve his story and his M47 tank.
